UN COP Installation

Challenge: Greenpeace, Europe Beyond Coal, and Bankwatch asked us to create a powerful storytelling tool to convey the toxic impact of coal power at COP24. We designed and built an ambitious art installation at the UN’s flagship climate conference COP in Katowice, Poland.

Based on real individuals each harmed by coal power, we 3D-printed striking sculptural portraits, then mounted on giant metal panels.
One of the subjects Josep, juxtaposed with his 3D-printed portrait sculpture.

Each sculpture was modelled after a real person then 3D printed in biodegradable plastic. Public could follow QR codes to each person’s full story. Stationed by the Greenpeace hub in the coal industry capital of Poland – extraordinary reactions showed how the installation stood out among the typical conventional messaging at the UN’s flagship climate conference.
