UNHCR

Challenge: The UN’s refugee agency, asked us for an original, creative piece of storytelling to serve their worldwide educational goals, and help young people empathise with refugees. We produced a comic book, now distributed in schools worldwide.

A comic book was a way to engage young people with powerful refugee testimonies, enabling a blend with some lightness and magic.

Good Point’s David Labi wrote the concept and story, commissioning Syrian graphic artist Salam Alhassan to produce the artwork.

THE SECRET POWER tells of three young refugees reflecting on the magical strength that brought them to safety – and how that power fits into their new lives. It’s a story of trauma and resilience, and a comic-book look at the secret powers in all of us.

The book is featured among UNHCR’s core educational materials. Download the digital version here.
